MP agrees Pilton 'under siege'

March 3, 2015 4:23 PM

MP for North Devon, Nick Harvey, recently attended an exhibition by the Pilton Residents Group highlighting the impact of a series of proposed housing developments on the area.

"Pilton is clearly facing quite a major housing extension by stealth," says Nick Harvey, "I am somewhat flabbergasted that Highways and the Environment Agency have not taken a firmer approach to what is being proposed.

"It is very hard to understand why Highways acquiesced over access onto North Road so readily. To my mind the proposed roundabout will do little to alleviate a potential choke point, especially when it comes to the emergency services; likewise it is hard to see how Pilton Bridge will cope. Raleigh Park access seems similarly flawed.

"Also there is a very real risk of increased flooding caused by additional surface water run-off into the Yeo. I am now challenging Highways and the Environment Agency over these very real concerns."
